This handbook is presented as a tool for the reader, offering to him a brief outline of the theoretical and philosophical debate concerning restoration and the main methodologies adopted through time.
In addition to the more strictly historiographic section, the handbook includes technical instructions regarding the various stages of the project and the production of graphic materials, as well as a useful glossary of terms concerning the field of restoration and the main decay and alteration phenomena.
Susanna Caccia Gheradini, professore associato di restauro presso il Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università di Firenze, collabora con diverse istituzioni italiane e straniere sul tema della conservazione del contemporaneo. Su questo argomento ha tenuto lezioni e conferenze in numerose università europee e americane (tra cui MIT, Boston). Autore di oltre settanta pubblicazioni sulla conservazione e tutela del patrimonio, tra le più recenti Le Corbusier dopo Le Corbusier. Retoriche e pratiche nel restauro dell’opera architettonica pubblicato da Franco Angeli.

Susanna Caccia Gheradini, is associate professor of restoration at the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence. She collaborates with various Italian and foreign institutions on the topic of the conservation of the contemporary heritage.
On this topic she has held lectures and conferences in numerous European and American universities (among which MIT, Boston). She is the author of over seventy publications on the conservation and safeguarding of heritage, the most recent of which is Le Corbusier dopo Le Corbusier.
